Regulators Run Cattle Rustlers & Horse Thieves out of Town
The Greene County Regulators held their second match at the new range in October. Quite a bit of work had been done to make improvements to the range. Each bay was lengthened from 40 feet to 60 feet and partition walls were built to divide the bays. The purpose of the walls was to separate the bays and protect shooters from any splatter that might occur. Several shooters commented that they were not hit with any splatter during the entire match. Our new angled target design also directs bullets into the ground below the target. I'd like to thank O'Shea for all his hard work building our new frames and targets so that we have better matches with improved safety. Work will continue and improvements to our range should be seen each month.
William AA Wallace had written the stages for us but was unable to shoot due to an injury to his knee. Thanks to AA for making sure we always have good stages to shoot and we hope he heals quickly so he can enjoy shooting with us.
There seemed to be a lot of cattle rustlers and horse thieves in the area so the Regulators decided to get rid of them. There were 34 cowboys and cowgirls who were ready to make things right and bring justice to the land. Our old friend Amos Bass came to join us from North Carolina and we were glad he could make it. It had been a while since he had shot with us and we hope he comes back soon.
Along with our regulars, Keystone, TN Hawk, Flat Gap Hugh and Grouche Olphardt were there from the Knoxville area to help us out this month and we were sure glad they came. Marshal Plank Shade and Blue Steel joined us from NC to help run those rustlers out of the country. We had 3 new shooters with us, TN Slim, Hawkeye Holly and Doc Holly. I hope they enjoyed the match and will be able to come back next month. Be sure to check out the scores section of the website for a complete list of the shooters. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped us have a fun and safe match.
Also, keep an eye on the GCR Message Board that is located on our website. This is a great place for us to post information to the club and get feedback from shooters. We are going to schedule a workday to remove lumber from the old shed and the barn on the property. We will need your help to keep moving forward with the stage fronts.
We'll keep working so our matches continue to improve so until we meet again, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
