And you thought July was HOT???

Regulators found melting in Rogersville…

The August 2007 match was one of the hottest I ever remember, rivaling Mule Camp 2006!!  We had 36 shooters show up for five fast and furious stages written by yours truly.  The day got hotter and hotter by the minute and it had to be well into the 90’s by the end of the match.  Three of our shooters didn’t even finish the match, commenting that it was just way to hot to have fun playing Cowboy!

Well, the heat didn’t bother Middle Creek Kid, he shot a clean match and with only SIX rank points was crowned the “TOP GUN” for August.  I think we should only let him shoot when it’s cold from now on…maybe it’ll slow him down!  Congrats to Lil’ Weasel for his second place finish and to Mort Dooley for coming in third.

There were six shooters that finished the match with no misses, procedurals or other penalties…Middle Creek Kid, Lil’ Weasel, Tennessee Critr, TN Bob, Tennessee Slim and Doc Cherokee.  Congrats to these fine cowboys as well!

It was nice to see the “Barker Gang” show up…even though A Wall did beat me!  He must have spent all his time away from our monthly matches PRACTICING! (Geez, I hate that word!)  Summer Breeze finished a respectable 17th overall and B.N. Bonnett was 21st and Buck L. Down finished at position 27 in his first match shooting the shotgun along with the other guns.  Looks like the “Barker Gang” is a force to be reckoned with in these here parts.

The concrete has been poured and is set up and we should have a real, flushable toilet at the next match.  Thanks to all involved…it’ll be nice to have our own toilet facilities in the very near future.

Tractor Supply Co. of Greeneville, TN has donated a very nice “Iron Goat” (ie. Lawnmower) for our use at the range.  The grass was neatly mowed and the range looked really good.  We have them as our first major sponsor…if you’re by there in the near future, look up the manager and thank them personally.  Thanks to Peacekeeper for working out the arrangements with Tractor Supply Company to get us the lawnmower and mowing for us this month.

Middle Creek Kid made us a new, stainless steel flagpole and it sure was nice to see that beautiful flag that we love so much flying over the range when the wind was gently blowing.  Thanks to Trooper Lark for donating such a beautiful reminder of the rights and freedoms that we all enjoy as American citizens.

September will be our Annual Match.  We didn’t have one last year due to having just moved into the “Range With No Name”.  This year we will have two main match stages for score and three or four side matches including a 3 person team match.  Food and drinks will be available as well.  Contact Sheez Packen if you’d like to contribute a food item or ice or plates or whatever.  Hope to see everyone there for a fun-filled day at the range.

That about wraps up this month’s newsletter.  Hope everyone had a great time this weekend and I’m looking forward to the Annual match in September hoping that ya’ll are as well.

Until we meet again…shoot straight, shoot often, but most of all…be safe and have FUN!!!
