Regulators Celebrate Their 5th Anniversary

September's match marked the five year anniversary for the Greene County Regulators.   I am very proud of the progress our club has made over the last five years.  We continue to build and improve on our new range facility and things are looking good for our club.

I think the most noticed improvement at our September match was the new bathroom located beyond bay five.  Everyone seemed to really appreciate the nice facility and several nice comments were made.  Thanks to Middle Creek Kid, O'Shea, Peacekeeper, Cherokee Deacon, Mort Dooley, William AA Wallace and Trooper Lark for building the bathroom.

Thanks also to Trooper Lark, Peacekeeper and Lady Sedona for mowing the range this summer.  The range always looks nice on match day.  Thanks to TN Bob for bush hogging the parking area and keeping the area around the shooting range clean for us as well.

For our anniversary match, we had two stages written by William AA Wallace for bays 4 & 5.  There were 31 shooters present to take part in the match.  Posse 1 and posse 2 seemed to enjoy both of them.  After the stages were completed, lunch was served and everyone took time to enjoy all the great food brought by the shooters.  Following lunch, shooters were free to participate in the speed matches that were set up.  In bay 1, speed pistol and speed rifle with bay 2 holding the speed shotgun event.  In bay 3, we had a 3 person team event with 16 targets.  A pistol shooter began with 5 targets, then a rifle shooter engaged 5 targets followed by a shotgun shooter with 6 knockdown targets.  Shooters could try their hand at any event as many times as they wanted allowing them to get in a great deal of shooting during the day.

Sunshine Billy was the Top Gun overall shooting in the Senior class.  He was followed by Mort Dooley, Ringer, Middle Creek Kid and Cherokee Deacon.  Ringer took top honors in the individual speed matches while Blue Steele, Middle Creek Kid and Mort Dooley took the team event.

I think everyone had a great time.  I know I did.  I'd like to thank all of the fine cowboys, cowgirls and buckaroos that came out to help us celebrate the 5th anniversary of The Greene County Regulators.  With continued support from our shooters, hopefully we'll celebrate many more years of cowboy action shooting at our new range.

Check out the message board on our website from time to time to see upcoming events.  We will be working on getting the floor in our shelter in the near future.  Hopefully, before bad weather sets in, we will also be able to complete another stage front to improve our range.   That's about it for this month, so until next time, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way, from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
