G.C.R. 2^nd Annual Match is a Blast!!

September 25th dawned at a cool 57 degrees with no Hurricanes in sight. After a one-week delay in our Annual Match due to Ivan we ended up with a great day. We had a total of 30 shooters, with 5 of the High Country Cowboys joining us. Marshall Harland Wolf, the North Carolina State Men’s Champion joined us also. The six officers of the Greene County Regulators wrote the six stages.

     We had several junior shooters as well as several new shooters shooting with us for the first time. Low-Wall Johnson our Junior Boys Champion, grandson of Hi-Wall Johnson only had two misses for the whole match! Diamond Dandy our Junior Lady Champion was also Women’s Traditional Winner and sixth overall. Cross Roads Kid was our Senior Boys Champion and he beat his Dad; Boot Doctor. We shot our Texas Star Target for the first time and it was a Hoot. Ottway Smith is continuing to fine-tune it. The knockdown shotgun targets and large Cowboy Target from Handlebar Doc performed flawlessly.

She’s still working on her alias. The Pizza from Little Caesar’s, Cold Drinks and Homemade Brownies were delicious! Doc Bryant who owns Tac2 was very gracious about letting us reschedule our match to this weekend, Thanks Doc! Carolina Gem was our 15^th overall shooter, so she is the Middle of the Pack Winner of the Cabin for two nights and match fees graciously donated by Possum Trot Gun club in Oneida Tn. Thanks Very Much Possum Trot Club and Hezekiah Hawke for arranging this. At lunch a drawing was held for our door prizes donated by Alan Miller of the Gun Shack in Greeneville Tn., Clint Campbell of Smoky Mountain Outfitters in Morristown Tn., Gun Rack of Kingsport Tn., Mark Mills Postmaster of Nicklesville Va., Lick Creek Kid, Tennessee Deadeye and others. Because of the donors generosity every one won a door prize!

    When the smoke cleared Marshall Harland Wolf was Men’s Traditional and Overall Match Winner. Diamondback Dennis was 2^nd, Ringer was 3^rd and Modern Champ, Lick Creek was fourth, Hi-Wall Johnson was our Duelist Champ, Tennessee Deadeye was our 49er Champ, Carolina Gem was our Gunfighter Champ,  Hogleg Horn was our Classic Cowboy Champ, and Hepsibah Hawke was our Lady 49er Champ. After the match we had an eight round shotgun side match in 2 categories, 97, and side-by-side. The 97 side match was won by Marshall Harlan Wolf in a blazing 10.55 seconds clean. Diamondback Dennis was 2^nd with a 19.32

Lick Creek kid was our double Winner with a 15.52 clean run. The side match winners graciously donated their winning back to our club, now that is Cowboy way!
