October 2002 news

Saturday, October 19th, the Greene County Regulators held their second shoot. We had nine gunslingers shoot it out under perfect conditions. The weather ranged from the 50's up to 66 degrees with partly cloudy to sunny skies.

Fourteen spectators watched the drama unfold. After the smoke cleared, Ringer stood atop the heap. Finishing first - Ringer, second - Tennessee Deadeye, third - Coon dawg, and forth - Shamrock Paddy.

We had four new shooters shooting Saturday. Ottway Smith and Hi-wall Johnson are some serious competition, hard to believe this was their first shoot. We also had Trooper shooting cap and ball pistols along with a mighty slick yellow boy 66 Winchester.

Since the last shoot, Deadeye and Oxbow Al made six new 15 x 16 targets and two new 20 x 25 buffalo targets. Also, Bogan put together six new pistol stands.

We had a delicious hot lunch of hot dogs, homemade chili, baked beans, chips, cookies and drinks, which was served by the lovely cowgirls Kathy and Lauran Duval and by cowboy Matt Dillon.

A special thanks to Coon Dawg's lady, Audrey Hooven, for keeping score for us. After the match, we let four interested onlookers shoot a stage. From the grins on their faces, they will be back.
