Regulators Go to the Movies

For November, William AA Wallace had written our stages based on some of our favorite western movies such as "The Outlaw Josey Wales", "Open Range", "Unforgiven" and my favorite, "Lonesome Dove".  When we arrived at the range, there was a pretty good chill in the air.  Shortly though the sun began to warm things up and by the time we were ready to get started, it was pretty comfortable.

There were 18 cowboys and 4 cowgirls ready to dispatch any low-down scoundrels who caused any trouble.  Returning after several months were Tombstone Tim and Needa Lotta Shotsmore who brought us a large box of shiny red apples to eat on during the match.  They had been busy and we were glad they could make it back to shoot with us.  There were several of our regular shooters who were a little under the weather and not able to make it and we want to wish them a speedy recovery.  Others were off in search of wild game and we wish them luck too.

Lickcreek Kid was our Top Gunslinger when the day was done followed by Mort Dooley in 2nd, A-Wall, who was really shooting well in 3rd and Middle Creek Kid in 4th.  TN Deadeye was our top 49er with Ottway Smith the top Duelist.  Ambush Annie was our top women's shooter.  Hogleg Horn and Winchester Wood were very close in Classic cowboy while Tombstone Tim took the Frontier Cartridge class.  Our Buckerettes, Summer Breeze and B.N. Bonnett were up to there usual form and shooting very well.

The last shotgun target on stage 5 was a little different than normal since it was actually a paper bullseye target with an orange center.  The object was to shoot the target with your shotgun and try to get as many pellets as possible into the orange which would then win you a $35 gift card for a Food City turkey dinner or other items of your choice.  Everyone took their turn as they shot the stage and after sending the shot wad through the target and removing the center, Tombstone Tim won the gift card.

It was a very fun day at the movies for me and I hope everyone else too.  Don't forget our December match will be the first weekend instead of the 3rd weekend.  We want to try and have another RO 1 class soon for anyone who is interested.  We'll try to set a date for the class at the next match.  Until next month, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
