Great Shooting in May

Saturday started out on the cloudy side but made for a nice day to shoot.   There were 26 shooters at our range to enjoy 5 stages written by our own William AA Wallace.  “Just Joking Around” was the theme for this month’s match and everybody enjoyed the funny stories that accompanied the stages.  Thanks to AA Wallace for his time in preparing these stages for us.

Competition was fierce as always with our shooters.  There were 4 different classes in the top 5 places which just shows how diverse our club is.  Middle Creek Kid was the Top Gun this month shooting in the Modern class.  Rio Drifter shooting Traditional was 2nd followed closely by The Dadeville Dude in 3rd overall.  TN Deadeye, The Ottway Smith were 4th & 5th with TN Tall shooting Lady Senior in 6th place.  We had two Classic Cowboys in 7th & 8th, Hogleg Horn & Shamrock Paddy while TN Hawk placed 9th in Silver Senior.

We had a visitor with us this month all the way from Victorville, California which was the home of one of the most famous cowboys of all time, The King of the Cowboys, Roy Rogers.  Toolmaker was visiting friends in our area while looking for a potential new home and came to shoot with us while he was here.  He finished 10th overall and was a lot of fun to shoot with as well.  If he does decide to settle down in the area, we hope to see him at more of our matches in the future.  Thanks Toolmaker for helping to make our match more enjoyable too.

Along with most of our regulars, Money Man and Boomer Fred were back with us this month.  We were glad to see them back at the range and shooting well.

There were four shooters who had clean matches this month.  Congratulations to The Dadeville Dude, TN Tall, Hogleg Horn and TN Hawk for hitting every target they shot at.  That’s good shooting!!

For the rest of the rundown be sure to check out the scores section of our website.

We also had some media coverage this month for our club and our new range.  The Newport Plain Talk newspaper reporter has posted pictures from the May 2008 match on their website at:

That's about it for this month, I hope to see everyone at the June shoot so until next time, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way, from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
