Spring Weather for March
The weather for our March match didn’t exactly seem like the last day of winter. With Spring dawning the next day, we got a taste of the nice weather to come, a little early. There was already a great bunch of cowboys ready to get started when I rode into the range. Cowboys kept making their way in until there were 23 of us eager to take on the bandits.
Tombstone Tim had written the stages for us this month and he wanted to make sure they were exciting. We fought cattle rustlers all day until finally we managed to get the herd back.
We had a couple of new shooters with us who had been there before to watch, Middle Creek Kid and Zeke Badshott. Returning new shooters Trail Justice and Effren Lee Lemley came back to help fight off the rustlers too. We even had help from the Carolinas as Baby Bull rode along. William AA Wallace, Clink, A-Wall and Coon Dawg were able to help us keep the herd while our Juniors, Crossroads Kid, Summer Breeze and LoWall, joined in. We were glad all these fine cowboys could make it out to shoot with us.
Ringer was back among the regulars, O’Shea and Ottway, Deadeye, Hogleg and Paddy, HiWall and Bear Claws, MoneyMan, Tombstone and Mort. If you’re needing help with bandits, all of these cowboys are tough to beat. I’m glad they’re all on my side.
When the last round was fired, and the smoke cleared, Ringer was Top Gun hitting every target. Mort finished second and shot his first clean match but Ringer hit them all faster. O’Shea and Clink were 3rd & 4th with Ottway 5th and Top Senior Duelist. Middle Creek Kid was 14th overall and had a great finish for his first cowboy match. We’re going to have to keep an eye on these new shooters that’s for sure.
Doc Willoughby wasn’t able to make it to the match but he has all of the results listed in the Scores section of our website. Be sure to check out the rundown.
With better weather on the way, we look forward to a lot of good matches in Greeneville this year. Come out and see what is going on with the Regulators and meet some interesting cowboys too. We’d be glad to have spectators and new shooters join us each month. Until we see you again, where ever you are, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way, from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
