Well, it was Summer time in Greeneville and it got quite warm by the end of the day.  Can’t wait until July and August…whew!  We had 31 pards and pardettes show up for our June match.  We had a great time shooting five stages that I had written the month before.  I wrote the stages with no story line and no lines to say prior to the buzzer.  Just get ready and let the RO/Timer know when you were ready.  Made it easier to concentrate on just shooting and having fun!

We had two shooters, Top and Sheepdog Slim that shot the match clean!  There were a few “stealth bullets” out there and the following folks completed the match with only one miss:  Ottway Smith, Mort Dooley, Lil Weasel, Cherokee Deacon, Ambush Annie, and Doc Cherokee.  Congrats to all of these shooters, they really know how to make the steel sing.

Overall match winner was Ottway Smith in the Duelist category, followed by Mort Dooley (Traditional), Middle Creek Kid (Modern), Blue Steel (49er), and Lil Weasel (49er).  Our club continues to have a diverse top five in regards to category.  Good job by everyone!  Check the rest of the scores on the website to see the rest of the finishing positions.

Mule Camp 2006 was held in Georgia in May with 453 shooters.  Our club was well represented by a bunch of cowboys and cowgirls.  The following folks placed in the top ten of their category and won belt buckles:

Ifin Ida Shotbedder (Ringer) – 2nd place 49er and 6th overall

Lick Creek Kid – 6th place Modern

Summer Breeze – 2nd place Buckarette

B.N. Bonnet – 3rd place Buckarette

Ottway Smith – 3rd place Senior Duelist

End of Trail 2006 was just completed with an amazing total of 913 shooters for the main match.  We had several folks attend from Greeneville and I’d like to recognize a few that did really well:

Ifin Ida Shotbedder (Ringer) – 9th place 49er and 47th overall

Lick Creek Kid – 5th place Modern and 46th overall

Ottway Smith – 2nd place Senior Duelist and 156th overall

O’Shea – 47th place Senior and 386th overall

Mort Dooley – 37th place Traditional and 161st overall

Our little club continues to shine at any match we attend.  We can all be proud to be a part of such a great bunch of folks and really great shooters.

July’s match will probably be very hot, so make sure you drink plenty of water the night before and during the main match.  We will have bottled water and a five gallon jug of water for free so that you don’t get dehydrated.  Until then, ride safe and shoot straight.
