Tar Heel’s sweep June 19th  G.C.R. Shoot

June 19th dawned at 68 degrees by 10am it was 78 degrees. We had 22 shooters make the match along with a couple of spectators.  We had four shooters from North Carolina; Diamondback Dennis, Carolina Gem, Dandy Diamond, and Lucky Larry Cole. We had two shooters shooting their very first SASS match; Night Rider, and Slowpoke Rodrigez, also shooting with us was O’Shea an experienced shooter from Maine who recently relocated from Maine to Greene County. The Regulators had four shooters at Hooten Old Town for the Kentucky State Championship.

Congratulations to Ifin Ida Shotbedder who finished 12th, Clink finished 19th just behind Will Reiley, the present Tennessee State Champion, Hezekiah Hawke finished 78th, and Shamrock Paddy finished 80th out of 122 shooters.  Good Job Guys!

Mort Dooley did an outstanding job of writing 5 stages taken from the movie Silverado. We ran two posses of 11 shooters each with Lick Creek and Ottway heading up posse 1, and Diamondback and Deadeye heading up Posse 2.

After shooting 3 to 4 stages we broke for lunch. Rhea had out done herself once again.  Homemade fried chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, bread, chips, vegetable tray, pasta salad, cookies, and drinks, all for $5.00 Thanks Rhea! With a light breeze blowing and a few clouds we were finished shooting 6 stages by 1.35pm and 1.55 pm.

The Tarheel shooters swept the first three spots; Diamondback Dennis 1st, Lucky Larry Cole 2nd, Carolina Gem 3rd  and our top Lady shooter, Lick Creek Kid 4th, Mort Dooley 5th, Ottway Smith 6th and our top Duelist, Tennessee Deadeye 7th  and our top 49er.  Dandy Diamond was our top junior shooter and our 2nd Lady shooter, and Sheez Packen was our top Lady 49er shooter. Night Rider was our top Senior shooter. The new knockdown shotgun targets were great! A featherlite load would take them down if hit properly. Thanks Joe for painting and putting these targets and rope resets together for us. Until next month Vaya Con Dios, your Ramrod, Tennessee Deadeye
