Regulators Have Fun at July Match!

Saturday morning began a little on the dreary side with rain clouds hanging overhead as cowboys and cowgirls rode in.  There were 27 shooters ready to sling lead and have fun with the stages written by our Territorial Governor and Club Treasurer, William AA Wallace.  Off and on during the course of the morning, rain showers came and went but none of the cowboys or cowgirls were bothered and we continued on.

Blue Steele, Marshal Plank Shade, Keystone, Ziggy the Kid, Tio Don, Tequila Liz, Amorous Ali and John Mandigo joined the regular group of shooters and we were glad to have them.  We hope they had as much fun with us and we did shooting with them and hope they will all come back next month.  Tombstone Tim was back with us after a short absence and we were happy to see him too.

After the 5 stages of the match were complete, Ringer was the Top Gun for the month.  Ringer had just returned from End of Trail where he finished 3rd in the 49’er class.  Congratulations Ringer on a great finish at the SASS World Championships!!

Following close behind Ringer was Lil Weasel shooting Senior then Mort Dooley in 3rd place.  The Ottway Smith was the top Duelist shooter while Blue Steele finished 5th overall.  A complete list of the shooters and how they finished is on the scores page so be sure to check them out!!

There were 6, yes 6, cowboys who hit every target they shot at.  Lil Weasel, Mort Dooley, Shamrock Paddy, Tenn Critr, The Ottway Smith and Tombstone Tim proved they were fast and deadly with their guns.   That sure is good shooting!  Congratulations boys.

Besides having a great time shooting with everyone who came to our match this month, I was honored before the match began when I was presented with a SASS Regulator badge.  I really appreciate the nomination by the club and the support that was given by all and will wear the Regulator badge with pride.  Thank you all for the award.

The weekend following the July match, Middle Creek Kid, Cherokee Deacon and Mort Dooley spent Friday and Saturday building a new façade on bay 2.  Next to the Freight office and dock on bay 1, there is now a corral to keep the horses.  It should prove to make for some interesting stage designs in the future.

There has been some talk of naming our range and we have had a good suggestion.  Peacekeeper offered “Bordertown” as a name for our range since we get shooters from Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina.  I think this would be a great name for our range and we can discuss this more at our next match if we want.

That's about it for this month, I hope to see everyone at the August shoot so until next time, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way, from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
