Regulators Round Up Cattle in July
When cattle thieves rustled our cattle from the ranch in Greeneville, the Greene County Regulators rode out after them to bring'em back. The cattle that is. We left the bandits where they fell.
Tombstone Tim had written the stages for July but unfortunately wasn't able to be there to help us shoot them. We had a lot of fun and want to thank Tim for his help with the stages.
The morning started out under cloudy skies that soon turned into a pretty good little rain. This only lasted for a short while though and before the first stage was complete it had stopped. The damp start wasn't going to keep the Regulators from bringing home their cattle.
With 24 cowboys ready for action, it was going to be hard for those rustlers to get away. We had several cowboys riding with us for the first time such as TN Bob, Reno Luck, Cigar John and B.N. Bonnett who is the younger sister to our own Summer Breeze. Now we have two young ladies who can really shoot with us and we are glad they enjoy our sport.
Returning to help us were Lil Weasel, Cherokee Deacon, Sheepdog Slim, The Money Man and Boomer Fred. With all this good help, the cattle thieves didn't stand a chance.
When the smoke cleared and the cattle were back in the corral, Lickcreek Kid was the Top Gun shooting Modern and proving why he wears a winning belt buckle from End of Trail 2005. Good shooting Joe. TN Deadeye was 2nd overall and shot another clean match. Deadeye has been on a roll lately and hasn't missed any in a good while. Quite an accomplishment Deadeye. O'Shea was in 3rd with Dooley 4th while Ottway Smith came in 5th overall.
Trooper Lark who was back with us after a short absence was 6th with Texas Ranger William AA Wallace in 7th. Paddy, Middle Creek Kid and Lil Weasel were next. For his second match, Lil Weasel is really doing great. He even brought local celebrity Izzy Real from WAEZ 94.9 radio to help out. Izzy shot a couple of stages after the match and did pretty well. I think he's looking for guns now to shoot with us again.
Doc Willoughby wasn't able to be with us but he has all of the scores listed on the web so be sure to check them out. William AA Wallace already has some great stages for August so be sure to join us on the range. Until then, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
