3 Clean Matches in February
Despite a weather forecast that called for temperatures in the mid 20’s during the morning, we had 19 cowpokes ready for business for our February match. Along with the regulars were Bear Claws O’Conner, Lewis Shaw and LoWall, who shot with us a few times last year. We were fortunate to have some new shooters with us too. Among those were Law-n-Order and Effren Lee Lemley. We even had a couple of specatators watching the fun.
TN Deadeye had written 5 stages full of fun and excitement for this month. After the safety meeting to orient the new shooters, we started to sling lead. The sun helped us as the morning temperature began to rise to a comfortable level. The afternoon cooled down some when the wind began to blow but these cowboys were determined to make it to the end.
When all of the stages were finished, 3 shooters had hit every target they fired at. Doc Willoughby, TN Deadeye and Law-n-Order all had clean matches. Congratulations to Doc and Law-n-Order on their first clean matches ever. This is especially something for Law-n-Order considering that this was his first cowboy match also. Great job for all 3 shooters. We’ll have to keep a close eye on them now!
Mort Dooley and Doc Willoughby were 1st & 2nd overall and in Traditional. In 3rd was TN Deadeye shooting 49’er with Lickcreek Kid and O’Shea finishing 4th and 5th. Our top Junior was LoWall Johnson in 16th overall. For all the facts and figures on the finish, be sure to check out the scores section on the website.
Take a gander at Hezekiah Hawke’s information for Raid on Andersonville and Mule Camp in our Future Road Trips section also. He has shoot info, hotel listings as well as phone numbers for these shoots. We want to thank Hezekiah for rounding up this valuable info. Several Regulators are going to both of these matches, so saddle a pony and ride along with us.
That should just about do it for this month. We’ll be looking for you on the range so grab your guns and gear and join us next month in Greeneville. Until then, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
