Saturday February 21st dawned an overcast windy day. Trooper had written
5 outstanding stages. The temperature was 40 degrees at sign up, and latter warmed up to 50. Roping the steer was tough; maybe 4 or 5 cowboys lassoed the steer to earn a bonus. Having a 20-25 mile an hour wind blowing didn’t help. Thank goodness we had our portable fireplace to fire up and help keep us warm. Thanks again Tom for building these for us.
Fifteen Shooters shot it out Saturday with twelve spectators watching We had two new shooters; Slo aka Alan Miller owner of the Gunshack in Greeneville Tn., and Martin aka Bryan Martin and Hezekiah Hawke was back from last month. We had two new members join, Hezekiah and Hepeskiah Hawke joined up as well as Clink renewed his membership.
When the smoke cleared Hi-Wall Johnson was the top Gunslinger this month as well as the top Duelist shooter, Congratulations John! Tennessee Deadeye was second, and we had a three-way tie for third in Rank points at 18 each. Going to total time Lick Creek Kid was third, Doc Willoughby was fourth, and Ottway Smith was fifth. Shamrock Paddy was our top Forty Niner shooter, and William Wallace was our top Modern shooter.
Saturday March 20th the Greene County Regulators will have a Speed Pistol Side Match starting at 8:15am till 9.20am. This will be to help raise funds for Texas Death Star Target, which Ottway Smith has graciously donated $100.00 toward the $440.00 cost. The side match will be $3.00 for two runs, fastest run counts or $5.00 for as many as you want.
Mule Camp is fast approaching. As of now Ringer, Shamrock Paddy, Mort Dooley, Tennessee Deadeye, Lick Creek Kid, Hi-Wall Johnson, Diamondback Dennis, Carolina Gem, and Ottway Smith have plans to attend.
