February 2003 news

The regulators gathered Saturday  morning under overcast skies. ten shooters showed up prepared for a downpour. after the safety meeting a decision was made to shoot three of the stages from underneath the covered shed on bays 1 & 2. as the day progressed we shot stages 3 & 4 in the open under light sprinkles and stage 5 was shot back on bay 1 & 2.

joining us from  north  Carolina were Steve and Beth, diamondback Dennis and Carolina gem from Sylva. also shooting with us was

Fontana Vick and his wife acted as our score-keeper. ringer and ottway smith set up the shoot on Thursday, and four of the five stages were from the shootout at pigeon forge. We had a great time shooting the challenging stages and had two new shooters pay their 2003 dues. I have just finished getting the Greene county regulators registered as an official sass affiliated club. we will now be listed on the sass homepage and will be listed in the cowboy chronicle starting in April.

When the smoke cleared our top shooter was diamondback Dennis, 2^nd place was ifin ida shotbedder (ringer),  3^rd place overall was the lovely and deadly Carolina gem,  once again deadeye and ottway smith were tied at 24 rank points each after the total time was added up deadeye edged ottway by 7 seconds for forth place, and ottway was fifth. once again hi-wall Johnson was the top duelist shooter for sixth place.
