December 6th dawned at a balmy 36 degrees. Once again Rea had brought warm food and hot coffee for us cowboys. Nothing like a hot homemade sausage biscuit and a hot cup of coffee to get you going. We had 10 shooters show up and our friend Tom Thornburg who has been busy driving his truck and has missed the last several shoots. We decided that during the winter months with a smaller crowd we would allow you to re-shoot your worst stage for an additional $5.00 this is to bring in extra funds for our club.
I would like to apologize to Ringer for shouting One More on Stage 1.
No one other than the R.O. running the timer should talk to the shooter while they are shooting the stage, except if there is Safety concern. In the future yelling or trying to distract a shooter once they have started a stage will warrant a 30 second “Spirit of the Game” penalty. Also belligerence and threatening behavior will not be tolerated during any match. If anyone has a problem they need to take it up with the match directors and R.O.’s to be discussed in a calm manner and abide by their decisions. We all participate in Cowboy Action Shooting to have Fun.
When the smoke cleared Lick Creek Kid was our top shooter just edging out Ifin Ida Shotbedder. With a tie of 8 rank points each it was decided by 3.28 seconds, it doesn’t get any closer than that! Ringer was second, Hi-Wall Johnson was third, Mort Dooley was fourth, Tennessee Deadeye was fifth with Shamrock Paddy and Ottway Smith breathing down his neck. Our top black powder shooter was C.A. Daver.
The Greene County Regulators 2004 Shooting Dates are listed on our webpage under Information. Our next shoot is Saturday January 17th, we are re-shooting our November Stages that Hi-Wall and Ottway wrote. We need volunteers to write stages and set up the range for the rest of the 2004 matches. This is a job that takes several hours to write 5 stages and an hour to a hour and a half to set up the targets. It’s not fair for four or five to have to tackle this job all year long. Our 2004 dues are due January 1st , this is necessary so we can pay for our liability insurance and remain a SASS club. So please send your dues to Joe when you get your statement.
I wish all our Cowboys and Cowgirls a MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR, Via Con Dias Tennessee Deadeye
