August 2004 News

Regulators dodge rain in August.

August 21st started out cool and wet but cleared up some before the match began.  We battled rain showers off and on all day long but had a good match planned and didn’t let the weather dampen our spirits.

TN Deadeye was working out of town so I kind of felt like Rowdy Yates when Mr. Favor left him in charge of the herd.  Lucky for me we have some great cowboys who help keep things running smoothly at every match.  I wrote the stages from the second part of the movie “Silverado” after using the first part of the movie for the June match.

We had 16 shooters despite the rainy weather including Buckshot Cogburn and Quickdraw from NC.  Returning new shooters Slowpoke Rodriguez and Triple P joined us also.  We were glad to have three new shooters, Shotgun Shell, the Vaquero Kid, 15 yrs. old, and Tiny Tike, 11 yrs. old, daughter of Little Tike.  We really enjoyed our new shooters and hope they plan on coming back to Greeneville with us.  A couple of spectators came to watch and learn about cowboy action too.

Once again Tombstone Tim and Miss Rhea had prepared a very nice lunch for us.  We appreciate their help with the matches and the great food.

The rain finally broke loose on the fifth stage and made things a little messy but when the shooting was done Lickcreek Kid was on the top of the list.  Doc Willoughby and I were 2nd & 3rd, with Shamrock Paddy top 49er in 4th.  Hiwall Johnson was our top duelist in 5th.  The Vaquero Kid and Tiny Tike were our top juniors while Shotgun Shell was our top lady shooter.

We want to wish Trooper Lark a speedy recovery after eye surgery and look forward to seeing him and Sheez Packin soon.

September will be our 2nd Anniversary match!!  We are planning some special stages and hope to have prizes available.  Come out and join us when the Greene County Regulators unveil the new Texas Death Star target.  Bring extra ammo because we are going to have 6 exciting stages written by the officers of the club.  We are looking forward to a really great match and hope to see a lot of cowboys and cowgirls at the range including a group from the High Country Cowboys in Asheville. The entry fee will be $20.00 which includes lunch and soft drinks or $15.00 without lunch.

Thanks, we’ll see you in September, from the Foreman, Mort Dooley.
