April Showers Bring…Cowboy Action Shooters!

The day before the April 5, 2008 match was rainy and windy.  Several fine cowpokes under the watchful eye of our Ramrod, set up the shooting bays and prayed for a break in the weather.  Saturday morning broke and was overcast and drizzly.  The weather faired up quickly (although it was to remain overcast skies for the rest of the day) and 33 Cowboys and Cowgirls shot five stages full of desperados and evil doers.

The Top Gunslinger for this match was A. Wall and he shot the match clean as well.  Middle Creek Kid was second, followed by Trooper Lark at third.  Watch out A. Wall and Middle Creek…that old man is sneaking up on you both!  You know what they say, “Old age and treachery beats youth and exuberance every time!”  Summer Breeze was our top lady Gunslinger and was 8th place in the overall standings.

The stages were written as stand and deliver (for the most part!), due to the soggy conditions at the range from the rain the day and night before.

There were five competitors that shot clean matches.  Congratulations to Tennessee Deadeye, A. Wall, Cool Breeze, Bear Claws O’Connor, and Cherokee Deacon for making sure that every piece of steel was hit!

On a very sad note, for those of you that haven’t heard, Winchester Wood passed away the same day that we held the April match.  Sheez Packen, Trooper Lark, as well as a few others, drove to Dandridge, TN for the funeral services.  Sheez Packen took flowers to the funeral home for us as well.  We will all miss this fine Cowboy.  Keep his loving wife, Ambush Annie in your thoughts and prayers as well.

Until we meet again…shoot straight, shoot often, but most of all…be safe and have fun!
