Tribute to the Texas Rangers in April

The weather for our March match was beautiful and April gave us another bright sunny day with blue skies and temperatures that were just about perfect.

With the great weather came 28 shooters to Greeneville, all ready to take on bandits, rustlers and other low-down no-accounts.  The stages for this match centered around the Greene Country Regulators "Tribute to the Texas Rangers" written by our own William AA Wallace.  Turns out the real William AA Wallace was a Texas Ranger who served with distinction and honor.  We had 5 stages all based on a true episode in each of 5 different Rangers careers.  The stages were clear and fun to shoot.  We appreciate the time and effort spent on these stages by AA.

We had some guests and a new shooter as well as some returning shooters who we hadn't seen in a while.  Cherokee Big Dawg and No Purse Nez made the smoke rise shooting Frontier Cartridge.  Montigue Pike, friend of Trail Justice and Sheepdog Slim, shot his first match with us.  Rhett Mosby, Shader and the Draco Kid also joined us to help the Rangers take on lawlessness and bring order to the land.

We want to say a special thanks to Miss Rhea and Tombstone Tim for bringing a great bunch of food for us to enjoy at lunch.  Along with lunch, we celebrated Tennessee Deadeye's 50th birthday.

Happy Birthday Deadeye!!

After finishing all 5 of the fun stages we had, Mort Dooley shooting Traditional was Top Gun followed closely by Cherokee Big Dawg in Frontier Cartridge.  Clink was 3rd with Ottway Smith 4th and Top Duelist.  No Purse Nez was the winner of the women's Frontier Cartridge and 5th overall.  Shamrock Paddy was our top 49'er with Hogleg Horn taking Classic Cowboy.  O'Shea was the top Senior and Sheez Packin was our top Women's 49'er.  Doc Willoughby has the whole list of shooters and their times posted in the Scores section so be sure to check to see where each cowboy finished.

Ringer, Lickcreek Kid, Shamrock Paddy and Mort Dooley are headed for End of Trail at Founder's Ranch in New Mexico to try their hand at the big time.  We should have a trail report on the trip when they get back so look for that in the near future.

Join us in Greeneville for our May match, we'll have a great time.  Mule Camp is just about a month away also so we look forward to shooting in Georgia also.  Shoot straight and clean and have fun the cowboy way from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
