May day! May day! May day!
May 1st at Bordertown got off to a pretty frustrating start for Rounder and Bear Claws O'Conner! It seems they were both standing outside Rounder's truck when the horn beeped and "click" ... the darned thing just locked up with the keys still in the ignition (and guns and ammo still in the back seat)! After a challenging 35 or 40 minutes trying to get in they called a locksmith who arrived from Rogersville just as Bear Claws finally got the dog gone thing open with a coat hanger! Quite a morning. Of course several "always helpful" Regulators assured them they had "keyless entry" systems in their holsters but neither cowboy was amused as I recall.
The Greeneville Regulators welcomed three new members to Bordertown today. Darrell Stoner (aka Deadly Dealer) and Chuck Boone (Tin Cup Chuck) and his son Cody (Gatlin Kid). All three are experienced SASS shooters. We're thrilled to have you fellers in the family and hope your stay here at Bordertown ranks among your happiest days on the planet.
Twenty four shootists arrived to rid Bordertown of rustlers, hustlers and riff raff and when the smoke cleared... all twenty four were still standing, including, one lone A-Wall Barker! (He left his "brass pickers" at home and came to try out that new shoulder all by his self). Everyone was watching closely as he fired the first shotgun round on stage 1 but by golly he seemed to be all healed up. Even came in second overall after no practice since he broke his collar bone and had surgery. Well done A-Wall. We was glad to see you!!!
Mort Dooley wrote some great stages for this match. There was plenty of buckshot flyin at a few more shotgun targets and even some thinkin' required here and there. (Both will help us when we get to bigger matches) Thanks Mort. Six Regulators managed to navigate the course with nary a miss. Congratulations to Mustang Mathews (who has logged about six of these in a row now), Cumberland Mnt John, Sheepdog Slim, Tennessee Critr, Tequila Liz and Lil' Weasel! Good shootin.
Joatmon had to leave before the shootin' started when a stomach virus got the better of him. Hope you're feeling better pardner and Shamrock Paddy opted to shoot with us instead of going to Kentucky today. Seems Nancy is still experiencing some pain and wanted him to stay close. We'll keep you both on our prayer list Paddy. There was also an empty space on the Modern roster today as Cherokee Deacon was out sick. He felt so bad Friday that he couldn't even mow!!! He's never been THAT sick! Hope you feel better soon buddy. Thanks to Mort, Boozy, and Middle Creek for gittin the mowin' done. We also noted it was unusually quiet at the match today and finally realized that William A.A. Wallace was nowhere to be found! Seems he had a meeting in Grundy and sent apologies for not being able to make it. He was missed... along with YOU. If you went to the Kentucky match let us know how you did as soon as you can. If you just couldn't make it we hope you're o.k. and look forward to seeing you next time.
Well cowpoke... I reckon you & me had a purty good day in some fine May weather. Looks like we'll be shootin' again on the 22nd this month. A few of us will be going to the Judge's retreat for kids that day and if you'd like to come along you can look for more info and directions on our message board soon. Till then be safe and have fun the cowboy way and we'll see you next time.
