Regulators Finish Up 2008
It doesn’t seem like it is possible but this year is almost over. Yep, the Greene County Regulators have shot 12 matches this year and it has been a lot of fun. We have had great stages each month and outstanding cowboys and cowgirls to participate. We have also added to our range this year with a new corral front on bay 2. The corral gives us lots of ability to vary our stage design and looks good too. I would say that 2008 has been a very good year for our club.
At the final match of this year, there were 17 shooters. The weather started out pretty cold and then developed into a slightly messy day to shoot when snow began to fall. At one point the ground was white and very pretty. The cowboys and cowgirls never complained though and finished all 5 stages like real cowboys would. When the last shot was fired and the smoke cleared, Mort Dooley was the Top Gun for the day shooting Traditional. Cool Breeze was 2nd overall and was the top 49’er followed by Tenn Critr who was the top Elder Statesman in 3rd place overall. Tenn Critr also shot a clean match. Way to go Critr!!
William AA Wallace was 4th overall and 2nd in Traditional with The Ottway Smith 5th overall and our top Duelist. Be sure to check out the scores and see where everyone finished this month.
We had one new shooter with us also. Boozy Creek made his first appearance as a cowboy shooter and improved on every stage. He finished 13th overall and seemed to really enjoy our sport. We sure hope Boozy Creek will join us again next month!!
As this year comes to a close, it is time to look forward to next year and our annual meeting. It will be on January 10th at 6:00pm.
This year it will be held at Pratt’s Barn in Kingsport on Highway 11W. The address is 1225 E. Stone Drive (which is Highway 11W) and their phone number is 423-246-2500. They are located across from the Courtesy Chevrolet dealership. Coming from the Bristol side of Kingsport, they are on the left and if you are coming from the Rogersville side of Kingsport, they are on the right. If you need directions or help contact Mort Dooley or William AA Wallace.
We will need to be electing officers for the upcoming year. This is also a time to help decide on the direction for the club while sharing a meal and fellowship.
I certainly want to wish everyone and their families a very Merry Christmas!! I hope you enjoy the things you have and it is a great time for you. I hope to see everyone at the January shoot so until next time, shoot straight and have fun the cowboy way, from the Ramrod, Mort Dooley.
