Saturday, April 3rd arrived at Bordertown and 26 hard cases gathered to swap lead and tall tales (Rounder and Tennessee Deadeye each shot two categories). The weather was about perfect for a shootout with a bit of a breeze and just enough cloud cover to keep the temps comfortable. That breeze managed to blow in some riff raff we ain't seen in a while though like Rio Drifter, Tennessee Tall, Sheez Packin and Trooper Lark!!! And darned if that old coot Rio didn't up and win the whole shootin match! Congratulations partner. Well done. Since you were on the other posse we didn't get to see you shoot but we could sure hear you! You had those single action pistols crackin like machine guns! Tennessee Tall had a blue light special on some fancy duds under the pavilion and Sheez Packin reclaimed her title as the Brownie Queen with a barrel full of brownies and red velvet cup cakes. Yum! We know you had to ride out early Patsy... we'll keep you, Jerry and your mother in our prayers.
Mort Dooley and William A.A. Wallace were on the owl hoot somewhere so Boozy Creek and I got everybody sworn in & deputized and two posses took out after a bunch of horse theives.
Everybody seemed to notice that we've been handin out a lot of clean shooter awards lately and ten people turned in miss-less matches Saturday. High fives to Bitter Creek Jack, Cool Breeze, Doc Cherokee, Lewis Shaw, Lil' Weasel, Mustang Mathews, Ottway Smith, Rio Drifter, Shamrock Paddy and Sheepdog Slim.
Tennessee Critr kept posse one entertained by shootin Outlaw-Josie Wales style! Darndest thing you ever saw. Shootin that shotgun and them pistols at waist level started out kind of challenging but Critr had it down by the end of the match and nary one of them horse thieves escaped! You were terrific Critr!
We're always glad to see our amigos from Oak Ridge too... Ziggy, Ali, et. al. thanks for comin along. It's a pleasure shootin with you.
Everything seemed to move along pretty quick. We had all the rustlers rounded up by 1:00 o'clock or so and a good time was surely had by all. So, with that said... may your Easter be blessed and your trails safe and happy till we meet again.
